So, SaaS Link Building? When I started my career in SEO, people tended to tell me that it’s all about content. Well, it has been five years now, and I believe they were correct, but to some extent.

SEO is a marketing practice that businesses use to rank their domain on search engines like Google on relevant searches. The purpose of the same is to attract people searching for queries relevant to your business to find you.

To see how SEO benefits and works for businesses, let’s take an example.

SEO: How It Benefits & Works?

Let’s say you are a digital marketing agency, and people/businesses are looking out for an experienced digital marketing team. To get leads, you would have to make your domain visible on every platform on which businesses might look out for finding such digital marketing service providers. One of such platforms is search engines.

People who are requiring digital marketing services may search “digital marketing company” on the Google search engine. To make sure that they land up on your domain, you have to rank on the top of SERP. But now questions arise, how would you do that? Why would Google rank your domain on the top, and not your other competitors?

To answer this, how effectively an agency has done SEO for its domain comes into the picture. One has to be really thoughtful about how technical optimization, On-Page, and Off-Page optimization have been implemented to make sure Google trusts their domain and ensures it is the best fit for such search queries.

Now, you would be wondering what On-page and Off-page do. Let’s deep dive into these terminologies.

You may hear different definitions of “Off-Page SEO” (super technical and tricky to understand) by other bloggers or businesses. But let’s keep it simple here.

Off-Page SEO for SaaS is all about SaaS link building. Period.

Google trusts and prefers content that others like. It means, if a high authority domain links to your blog or page to relevant content, Google will listen to that as a “love your content” call by that high authority domain.

For example, I published a blog on Unique Link-Building Strategies Particularly for SaaS Domains, and a high authority domain links this article to their article relevant to SaaS link building on a relevant keyword. Then my article would rank higher on relevant keywords.

Getting a link from a high authority domain doesn’t mean that you will overnight rank on the targeted keyword. You might need to get hundreds of links to rank on some keywords, or for some, you won’t even need to have a link. It all depends on the keyword difficulty, search volume, and competition. Also, on what anchor text you have links and how much the article links to your content is relevant. And most importantly, the link is do-follow or not, since no-follow links don’t get followed by Google bot.

Digital marketing can be a significant part of the overall marketing strategy for other businesses. But for most SaaS businesses, digital marketing is all that they have to generate revenue or sales. This means it becomes crucial for them to make sure that they are doing their best on their SEO.

On-Page related work is all one thing, which won’t probably be challenging. But for SaaS domains, the Off-Page SEO thing, or say link building, could be a super tricky yet essential part of the strategy.

SaaS is one of the most competitive industries. It’s like there may be thousands of products out there offering what you offer. There might be a few differences between your product and theirs. Still, the targeting keyword mostly remains the same.

For SaaS platforms, the best place to get a backlink from is another SaaS platform. A backlink from a content farm/content mill website is not as worth it as a link from another SaaS platform. The same is because the content quality on such content farm platforms is very low, and they often charge dollars for publishing content. Also, such domains often get penalized by Google for creating forceful link-building schemes.

But again, when you target SaaS blogs, you have to sync with their super strict guidelines, and you have to send them multiple emails where you suggest different topics for getting one approved.

The complexity of SaaS domains makes it challenging for businesses to plan a link-building strategy. So here I am going to talk about three link-building strategies particularly and especially for SaaS businesses. These strategies are pretty easy to implement, cost-effective, and can help you generate more quality links in less time.

1. A-B-C-D Link Partnerships

Guest posting is definitely a great way to build HIGH-QUALITY backlinks, but let’s be honest, it takes a lot of hard work to get a guest post published on a platform. Also, the whole effort gets you just one backlink only in return!

However, with A-B-C-D link-building strategy, you can 3X the result. In fact, you won’t even have to write the content. Here is how to do it.

Step: 1 Outreach Domain The Same Old Fashioned Way

The beginning of this strategy is the same as it is for most guest post strategies, which is, find domains where you would like to have a link from and send them a guest post outreach mail. And wait for their approval.

Step: 2 Plan The Content Post Approval

Once you get the approval from that, go ahead with planning the content. Make sections and subsections that you think you should include.

Step: 3 Outreach Domains Who Might Be Interested In Getting A Link From

This is the part where things get crazy! You don’t have to outreach more domains to ask them if you can publish the guest post on their domain. You have to offer them an opportunity to get featured on your guest post. Here is an email template for an example.

So, I was thinking if you want to contribute your thoughts and ideas by adding 800 – 1000 Words {define them why and how you want them to contribute as you planned in Step: 2}.

One more thing, I would really appreciate it if you can add {your link} in your upcoming blogs or existing blogs on {anchor text} wherever it fits naturally. I think it can work very well and naturally on blogs related to {Topic}.

You will need to send this to more domains and try to get acceptance from at least three relevant domains (two would also work). Believe me, you would get amazed when you see that most domains would agree to partner with you (just make sure that the approved title and the domain are relevant).

So, if each partner of yours contributes 800 – 1000 words, then the total contribution would be 2400 – 3000 (if there are three partner links in the domain).

You must be thinking now that, won’t you be including your link in that guest post?

In Bio: Hell Yeah! (If they allow)

You would definitely not want to add multiple links in a guest post. So, it is better to keep only your partner’s link in the guest blog.

Also, there is a thing about guest blogging; if you outreach the same domain where your guest post is already published, it would be easier for you to get approval from them on another title again. The reason is that they would get to know that you write pretty well after the first publication. This means, going ahead, you can still guest post for yourself on that domain with just your link.

Step: 4 Editing Before Submitting

At the end of the day, the article has to be published under your author’s bio. So, make sure you proofread the content before you submit it. The edits would include; changing the tone, English version (make sure it is in your native English), and grammatical errors.

Out of all, making sure that the tone used is the same as you use for writing on other platforms is the most important.

Once you are done with it, submit the content.

Here is how an approving platform would benefit: The content would be from multiple writers who are experts in that niche. It means it would be three times better than it could be if written just by you.

Here is how your partners benefit: They would get a link from a good domain and that too by making minimal efforts.

Here is how you benefit: You will simply get two to three backlinks with just some emailing work and editings!

2. Graphic Links Redirection

Have you ever tried infographics for link building? Does it work? For sure, it probably would. But worked much? Probably not.

Building backlinks through infographics is definitely a great strategy, but if the domain doesn’t add infographics? (which many domains actually don’t)

So here, this is a better and more effective strategy; Graphic Links Redirection.

Step: 1 Check Top Blogs On Targeted Keyword

Just like all other strategies, this also begins with good research. You just have to enter the keyword you are targeting and note down the top blogs in the SERP.

Step: 2 Create One Image / Video For All

If you target a keyword and list down all blogs from SERP on that keyword, you will find that most of them will probably be on the same topic. It means you can plan out to create a single image/video for all.

Step: 3 Outreach Them & Ask Them Add That Graphic

If someone reaches out to you and asks you to add an image or video with a link, then would you link it?

Mostly, when domains are reluctant to link a domain with a blog page or service page to their domain. Especially if they see them as their competitor, however, when it comes to adding a GOOD GRAPHIC with just a simple source link, it is mostly not an issue to them. So, here is an example mail;


I am {Your Name}, I just checked your blog; {blog link}, and found it really interesting. {Something about the blog, what you liked about it and what was the most attractive point, etc.}

By the way, there is one thing I believe it lacks, i.e., an image at {location with description}. Don’t you also think so?

I have attached an image something like that would make sense. You can use that image also. However, I might be using it in my upcoming blogs, so I will request you to add a Source link to

Step: 4 Get Up Your Blog & Redirect The Image Link To It

Here is the crazy part now! Once you think that you got the image added to as many blogs as possible, you have to start working on your domain blog with relevant content to the image/video. For example, if you were targeting “link building strategy” and shared the image of a link building banner, then you should go with a blog around a title like “X Link Building Strategy Or So”

Before making your blog live, make sure you create a copy of the image you shared with those domains.

Let’s say the copy image link is Add this image to your blog post. Then remove the file from your database and redirect this URL to your newly published blog.

So, now you have links to your blog from so many relevant competing blogs ranking on the keyword you are targeting.

Having links on anchor text “Source” will definitely not give you as much benefit as links on some optimized anchor could have given. But still, this would be a lot helpful in ranking your blog in less time.

To make this strategy successful, I would recommend going with images only as domains often do not add videos in their blogs, especially if they have to host them on their domain. Still, if you think it can work, then you can definitely go ahead with videos also.

3. Propose An Undeniable Offer

If you ask someone to take a million-dollar for just handshaking with you, would they accept? Yes, they would.

In every marketing practice, businesses tend to offer others something they want and at a very reasonable deal. You can apply this to your link-building strategy also by following this strategy.

Step: 1 Do A Bit Of Blogger Outreach

Content farm domains charge a price for adding a guest post or link insertions. All you need to do is outreach to them to understand their price and guidelines and create a list of 20 – 30 domains that charge a reasonable price for link insertion, like $10 – $25. But do make sure that their domain has pretty good stats like DA, D.R., & Traffic.

Step: 2 Outreach SaaS Platforms Where You Want Your Link Placed

Once you are done creating your list of high authority content farm domains, make a copy of that file and ensure that copy doesn’t have the prices mentioned. Then write an outreach pitch to SaaS platforms telling them that you want to collaborate with them, and you can provide them a link from any website from this list in exchange for a link from their website. Here is an example email for it.

Step: 3 Upon Their Reply, Add Their Link, & Get Your Link Insertion Planned

Once you get a reply from them with the domain they have chosen from that list, just add their link. And once you add their link, update them about it and ask them how they suggest getting you a backlink.

You can mention their existing blog post if you have any in mind in the reply and ask them to add your link to it. Also, do make sure you mention the anchor text and all details with it.

Though this strategy costs a few dollars, still if you make an estimate, you would realize that you just have to spend 25$ on average for each link you get your collaborators. This means that with an investment of 2500$ dollars and a bit of effort, you can add more than 100 backlinks to your referring domain profile.

On-Page SEO Tip For SaaS Businesses For Natural Link Building

What content strategy should a SaaS business follow? A question that many SaaS businesses have asked me over the last few years. And this is what I answer them.

Just power pages, and that’s all. Period.

You write content to rank on Google, but mostly the efforts get wasted as your page does not rank in the top ten. So, why write content that does not rank?

Power pages are blogs having all the elements that can make them rank on SERP. They are supposed to be unique, have good graphics, better readability, and can include elements like infographics and videos too.

Such blog posts are mostly written around 3500 – 4000 words. And they take 10X more effort than general blogs. So, rather than writing 20 blogs a month with 2000 word content each. Go for 4 – 6 power pages a month.

Simply, Quality Over Quantity.

Things To Remember

  • The most important element in the success of these strategies is your email outreach content. Don’t just send the same mail to many. Personalize your email for every outreach.
  • Choose the right domain. Ensure you check the relevancy, quality, and authority of all the domains you are outreaching.
  • Never propose something that doesn’t benefit others. Make sure whatever deal you are offering is fair and others are benefiting from it too.
  • Keep in touch with your partners as maybe someday they come to you rather than you reaching out to them for link building. More connections you have, the more benefit you would earn.
  • No matter what, never do a direct link exchange. As per Google guidelines, direct link exchange is prohibited and can lead to a penalty.
  • Avoid aggressive anchor texts. If you want to rank on “personalized marketing,” then consider anchor texts like “customization in marketing” also.


The strategies suggested can be absolutely fruitful for SaaS businesses if used wisely. They require less effort and offer better results.

Those who tell you that SEO is all about content are right. It’s just you have to get deeper into it to understand what it actually means. When they say content, it means all forms of content: images, text, videos, etc. You would need to use your creativity to implement content in your SEO strategy for everything, including link building. After all, SEO is all about creativity and crazy ideas.
